    Job Title: Surface Water Department Manager

    Description:
    Michael Baker International's Surface Water Group is dedicated to providing innovative consulting, planning, and engineering solutions for the entire water cycle. From scientific and technical analysis to design and construction support services, we offer a comprehensive range of professional services. We focus on protecting and managing water resources at various levels, including watershed, urban and agricultural areas, water distribution systems, and treatment plants.



    Responsibilities:

    • Establish and maintain relationships with local and regional agencies
    • Provide mentorship and guidance to project managers and production staff
    • Oversee hydrological and hydraulic calculations, modeling, and technical report preparations
    • Mentor junior design and CADD staff in all design phases
    • Ensure implementation of QA/QC procedures in all projects
    • Conduct department meetings to review workload, project performance, and business opportunities
    • Collaborate with other offices to share work and best practices
    • Support staff in technical and management skills development
    • Identify training opportunities for career growth
    • Lead business development and client management efforts
    • Participate in industry events and networking


    Professional Qualifications and Requirements:

    • Minimum 15 years of engineering experience
    • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
    • Professional Engineer (PE) license in California
    • Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) qualification recommended
    • Strong communication skills
    • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and MS Project
    • Drive to become a leader in the company and professional community


    Compensation:
    The salary range for this position is between $180,000 and $240,000, dependent on experience. Eligible for a discretionary bonus based on performance.
