    Job Summary

    The Director of Development, Westphal College of Media Arts & Design is responsible for designing and implementing a comprehensive development program, specifically for their assigned College.

    The program incorporates annual and major gifts, and planned gifts fundraising. They will also engage in corporate & foundation fundraising in coordination with central Foundation and Corporate Relations team.

    The Director reports to the Assistant Vice President of Development for the Arts & Science Unit within the Office of Institutional Advancement (IA).

    They will also work closely with the Dean and colleagues from across IA and the College. This position does not have management responsibilities.
    Essential Functions

    Plans, organizes and directs programs to secure major gifts by pursuing the identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of private support from individuals and other constituencies.

    Serves as the major gift fundraiser for the College; builds and manages a pool of approximately 100 prospects capable of making major gift commitments of $50,000+.

    Develops detailed strategies and goals on a monthly basis for the top prospects within the portfolio.

    Maintains an active schedule of a combination of in-person and virtual meetings with major gift suspects and prospects, including alumni, parents, friends and corporate partners.

    Assists in the qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of principal gifts prospects and donors in association with the Assistant Vice President of Development, Arts & Science Unit.

    Stewards donors through ongoing communications, recognition activities, invitations to key events, and interaction with beneficiaries of their support. Coordinates activities with the central Donor Relations function as needed.

    Serves as advisor to the Dean of the College on fundraising matters and coordinates development activities involving the College and IA including the Office of Alumni Relations, being cognizant of IA;s and the College's needs and procedures.

    Manages the College's Dean's Council and secures the membership's annual gift commitment.

    Serve as a key liaison for the College with the Senior Associate Vice President of Planned Giving, paying special attention to opportunities to secure new planned gifts and steward members of the Drexel University Legacy Society.

    Attend internal and external planned giving seminars as appropriate.

    Builds relationships with Department Heads and academic Program Directors and has knowledge of priorities for the success of departments within the College.

    Promotes University priorities and image to constituents and maintain current knowledge of university-wide institutional priorities; Promotes campus goals and objectives.

    In consultation with senior staff, cultivates and solicits prospects on behalf of other campus units.
    Adheres to IA's performance goals and standards for Directors of Development.
    Follows IA's procedures regarding prospect management and documenting contacts.
    Responsible for oversight and submission of all relative fundraising reports, statistics, projections, and publications.
    Other duties as assigned.
    Required Qualifications
    Minimum of a Bachelor's degree.

    Minimum of 5 years of experience, with 3 years of demonstrated success in a development program or high-impact sales environment.

    Ability and willingness to travel domestically.
    Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends.
    Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
    Ability and willingness to work in highly collaborative teams and individually.
    Valid Driver's License.
    Preferred Qualifications
    Proven track record of cultivating, soliciting, and closing gifts of $50,000+.
    Knowledge of prospect management systems.
    Knowledge of database fundraising software CS Advance.
    Expertise in the fields of media, art and design.
    Experience in Higher education.
    Experience working with senior-level executives.

    with a grade of

    M . Compensation for this grade ranges from

    $75,200 - $112,790 . Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the

    minimum to midrange


    of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
