JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Scientific Documentation Specialist to support the NIH's Division of Occupational Health and Safety by providing exceptional transcription and documentation services for various scientific committees.
This role requires a keen understanding of biological, medical, and radiological research, as you will be responsible for recording and transcribing detailed discussions during committee meetings.
MAIN OBJECTIVES
- Attend, record, and transcribe meetings of the NIH Occupational Safety and Health Committee and other related committees.
- Set up and manage recording equipment to capture clear and precise audio of the meetings.
- Provide accurate, detailed minutes that capture the essence of discussions without transcribing verbatim.
- Work closely with NIH staff to review and revise meeting minutes to ensure technical accuracy and completeness.
SCHEDULE OF WORK
- The role involves attending up to four scheduled meetings per committee per year, with meetings typically scheduled in the afternoons (EST). Additional ad hoc sessions may occur.
- Specific schedules and adjustments will be communicated in advance.
PLACE OF PERFORMANCE
- Meetings may be held online, inperson at NIH Bethesda campuses, or in a hybrid format.
PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE
- Contract duration will be specified upon final agreement.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific field.
- Minimum of five years' experience in technical or scientific writing, specifically involving medical or biological research.
- Demonstrable familiarity with molecular biology, biochemistry, and medical research practices.
- Proficiency in handling recording equipment and technology.

- Sample minutes or transcripts from similar roles.
