    Description:

    The Research Resources Center (RRC) is a division of theOffice of the Vice Chancellor for Research (OVCR) at the University of IllinoisChicago. RRC offers research faculty, staff, and students a diverse inventoryof high-end scientific equipment as well as a wide range of services offered by14 core facilities staffed with highly skilled scientists. In addition, ourstaff trains the research faculty, staff, and students to use the scientificequipment. Through the RRC, researchers also have access to statistical andcomputational support for data handling, data transfer, and interpretation ofexperimental results This position contributes to the design and delivery ofresearch projects and collaborates with researchers to develop, execute andinterpret research projects in or across a variety of the research cores. Therole performs complex laboratory and data collection techniques in a highvolume environment.

    Duties & Responsibilities
    • Develop objectives and design of research and datacollection procedures. Conceptualize, initiate and execute research goals forproject.
    • Conduct and coordinate advanced research experiments.Analyze and interpret data and results and refine experimental design.
    • Develop and write advanced experimental protocols.
    • Evaluate current developments and research findings todetermine their potential applicability to research projects.
    • Replicate, refine and add/develop new research approachesbased on project needs. Advise on new direction for research based onexperimental results.
    • Monitor project developments on an ongoing basis andimplement changes as needed.
    • Prepare, organize and communicate research results. Writepapers, grants, and other documents for publication based on research findings.
    • Author and co-author articles for publication and present atscientific symposia and conferences.
    • May act as supervisor or team lead in directing andcoordinating the work of lower level staff. Guide, train and advise lower levelresearchers and students on techniques, methods and procedures.
    • Plan, assign and review work of staff to ensure that groupobjectives are met. Hire, train, develop and manage staff to ensure that aqualified staff exists to meet group objectives.
    • Perform other related duties and participate in specialprojects as assigned.
    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in science or related field required.Master's degree in science preferred.
    • A minimum of 5 years related research experience.
    • Possesses and applies comprehensive knowledge of researchprinciples, concepts, practices and methods.
    • Proficient in specific lab research techniques.
