POSITION OVERVIEW
This position directs and coordinates activities concerning copper leaching, solvent extraction, and electrowinning processes.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Coordinate/implement/oversee all operations requirements and/or modifications to the operations plan as requested by upper management.
  • Assemble data and prepare daily/weekly/monthly reports for operating information/environmental status/safety issues.
  • Oversee and direct all personnel activities, including employee counseling, discipline, and absenteeism.
  • Supervise and direct the activities of supervisors with the L-SXEW department.
  • Analyze complex problems involving knowledge of engineering, metallurgy, physics, and chemistry interpret results, and recommend action.
  • Communicate with the L-SXEW Manager concerning metallurgical testing and operating practices that have the potential to increase production and decrease costs.
  • Assemble data and prepare forecasts for production for leaching, acid unloading, and SX-EW.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Must have excellent knowledge and experience with copper leaching, solvent extraction, and electrowinning processes.
  • Must understand the current health and safety regulatory requirements and demonstrate the highest commitment to employee health and safety.
  • Must understand the current regulatory requirements and demonstrate the highest commitment to environmental compliance.
  • Ability to analyze and understand statistical metallurgical data, background in statistics a plus.
  • Computer fluency a must, advanced lab skills, and mechanically adept.
  • Applicant must have good oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to manage time effectively and set priorities.
  • Requires the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Must be proficient with MS Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy or 7 years of experience in L-SXEW process
  • 2 years of supervisory experience in a similar metallurgical/mining environment.
