Salus University is seeking a skilled professional to fill the position of temporary Part Time Clinical Community Outreach Assistant from September 2023- June 2024.

Normal hours will be Monday, Thursday and Friday from 8:15am-1:15pm.


Primary Function:


The Clinical Community Outreach Assistant is responsible for performing duties to assist the optometrist and interns during community outreach activities.

This position may also be included in activities to coordinate ongoing programs with community partners, develop sponsorships/business arrangements and relationships with businesses, individuals, schools and other organizations interested in collaborating with Salus University's clinical services.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Attend community outreach events including school vision program events to register patients, complete paperwork and maintain the general patient flow of the event.
  • Assist with scheduling locations of the mobile vision unit and transportation of children to and from individual schools for care for the school vision program.
  • Maintain data and compile summary reports related to communitybased activities and partnerships.
  • Assist the Office of Communications and Clinical Operations in the creation and maintenance of a clinical community outreach plan.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with school district partners collaborating with the University's Clinical Operations in addition to new partnerships.
  • Attend relevant community events and participate in internal and external committee work, as requested.
  • Work with the Office of Communications and staff to promote community outreach activities related to clinical operations and in line with organizational objectives.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:


  • Associate's degree required
  • Experience in an Optometry or Ophthalmology clinical setting recommended but not necessary

Skills and Other Requirements

  • Valid driver's license, free of violations and suspensions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as presentation skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office programs
  • Ability to perform several tasks concurrently, time management and organizational skills
  • Committed to a mission of service to underserved populations
  • Must work weekend and evening activities when needed.
