    THE POSITION

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is in search of an individual who possesses these traits We are seeking a dedicated Survey Technician to become part of our forward-thinking team.     DESCRIPTION OF WORK

    In this position, your responsibilities will include operating, adjusting, and maintaining survey instruments, as well as measuring angles and checking alignments of structures. You will also be responsible for staking out tangents, curve stations, and reference control points. To establish mapping and survey grade point locations, you will utilize various equipment such as theodolites, GPS receivers, and data collectors. Additionally, you will perform trigonometric and algebraic calculations, prepare field sketches and notes, and double-check your work. You will be proficient in using both conventional and electronic equipment for survey team functions and will make field decisions regarding traverse and topography points. Effective communication with team members will be crucial, using oral communication, hand signals, and radio. Furthermore, you will utilize electronic and conventional instruments to determine elevation, location, and distances, and will download and edit survey data using a CADD system.

    Work Schedule and Additional Information:

    • Full-time employment
    • Schedules vary due to weather conditions and field conditions and requires working in inclement conditions.
    • Telework:You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) on an Adhoc basis. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Allentown.
    • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

    • One year of experience as an Engineering Technician; or
    • One year of experience as a member of a survey corps which included duties operating both standard and electronic surveying instruments, and an associate's degree in surveying, drafting, design, civil or any other appropriate field of engineering technology. Condition of Employment:
