    Overview

    Shimmick is seeking a highly talented Field Engineer III to be based out of San Diego, CA . This challenging position will provide an excellent growth opportunity while improving the infrastructure of the city.

Shimmick is a national Contractor that has an excellent reputation within the industry and is seeking a qualified individual to join our Southwest Division. Shimmick takes on challenging projects and performs high-quality work ranging from expanding/constructing water and wastewater treatment plants to construction of the new Gerald Desmond Bridge.

    Shimmick has a long history of completing complex water projects, ranging from the world's largest wastewater recycling and purification system in California to the record-setting Hoover Dam.     • Southwest Division

    Shimmick's Southwest Division, headquartered in Irvine, California, focuses on large public owners in Southern California, across water resources, water treatment, transportation and transit markets. Over the past decade, the division has grown tremendously, securing major projects, including the $350 million in San Diego at the $200 million in Orange County.

    Responsibilities

    The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Under general supervision, performs routine duties.
  • Displays knowledge and abilities to evaluate, select and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria to meet basic engineering and construction specifications.
  • Displays applications of sound professional judgment on details of work.
  • Independently performs walk-downs and inspections of installed commodities to assure conformance with specifications and design.
  • Performs quantity surveys for tracking and reporting.
  • May provide technical direction to drafters, technicians, and surveyors.

    • Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field + 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

    • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in heavy civil construction projects
  • Experience managing a team of engineers
  • Producing and implementing work plans

    • Additional Information:

  • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.

    • The salary range for this position is between $115,000 - $130,000 per year depending on experience and/or education.

    Shimmick's comprehensive benefits plan includes medical - including a NO COST option, dental, and vision coverage; as well as options to participate in an FSA or HSA. The Company also provides employer paid STD, LTD, basic life and AD&D, and an Employee Assistance Program. Additional voluntary benefit offerings include pet insurance, hospital indemnity, critical illness insurance, legal and identity theft protection.

    These benefits are available to all employees working more than 20 hours per week. Employees working less than 20 hours per week are eligible for medical, dental and vision coverage as well as EAP services.
