Program Co-Leader of the Cancer Prevention and Control Program - Portland, United States - OHSU

    Default job background
    Description
    Department Overview

The Knight Cancer Institute is an NCI-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center and has four scientific programs (Translational Oncology, Cancer Prevention and Control, Quantitative Oncology, Cancer Biology) that conduct high-impact research across the cancer continuum.

The Knight includes the Division of Oncological Science (DOS) that provides an academic home for cross-disciplinary cancer researchers that leverages team science and collaboration within the School of Medicine at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU).

DOS faculty represent multiple scientific disciplines that support innovation and translation of discovery to impact cancer patients and the broader population and promote transdisciplinary research.

The Cancer Population Science (CPS) group within DOS is committed to addressing the most challenging cancer prevention and control problems in populations with or at risk of cancer across the translational continuum, with on-going research in genetics, behaviors, and exposures at a population level that associated cancer-related outcomes and conducting intervention studies with individuals, communities, healthcare systems, and populations.

Every Knight Cancer employee is expected to embody our guiding principles:

    • We act BOLDLY-Breakthroughs require pushing the boundaries of science, exploring new frontiers, and thinking differently
    • We SUPPORT each other-Respect leads to trust, which leads to excellence
    • We work as a CONNECTED team-We must leverage our collective brain power to conquer cancer because no one individual can do it alone

OHSU and the Knight aim to be the workplace of choice nationally and internationally for individuals to reach their potential and perform the most innovative research, education, and care in service to our patients, students, workforce, and community.

We inform our work based on the needs and with the input of our geographically and racially diverse state and strive for a mission-driven work environment that is diverse in people and ideas, equitable in opportunities, and promoting a climate of respect and trust.

We instill these principles throughout our workplace culture, clinical care, educational programs, community engagement, and research activities. We expect all Knight employees, faculty and staff, to support this aim and demonstrate these principles in daily interactions.
