PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Program Coordinator is responsible for the planning, organizing and implementing programs within a designated school-based club. The Program Coordinator provides leadership and supervision to assigned program and volunteer staff.


KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):


  • Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of positive youth development:
  • Promote, stimulate and encourage program participation;
  • Assist and participate in the new membership orientation process
  • Provide guidance and role modeling to members and staff
  • Plan, develop and implement designated programs and activities that support Youth Development Outcomes
  • Ability to lead a variety of program activities in all program area
  • Demonstrate leadership to assure conduct, safety and development of members.
  • Measure program effectiveness.
  • Work closely with the Club Manager to ensure that requirements of grant funded programs are met and timely outcome reports are being submitted
  • With the guidance of the Club Manager, establish and maintain program goals and settings that insure the health and safety of members and that program areas are safe and the club equipment is maintained in good working condition.
  • Ensure the evaluation of programs on a continual basis and ensure programs/activities respond to members needs and address their gender and cultural diversity.
  • Assist with the training and orientation of staff and volunteers.
  • Assist with parent interactions, including new member information, assist with relaying information and conflict resolution.
  • Assume full responsibility of the club in the absence of the Club Manager.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • May assist with special programs and /or events (i.e. Youth of the Year and Awards Programs), and/or participate in the implementation of other activities as necessary.
  • Identify and address the unmet basic needs of Club members.
  • Other related tasks may be assigned, based on the needs of the Club and the supervisor's request.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma, some postsecondary education or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of three years' work experience in a youth development organization and/or social service experience working with children
  • Experience in planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of youth.
  • Understand the responsibility of self and staff as mandated child abuse reporters.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated organizational, staff and project management abilities.
  • Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems.
  • Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth.
  • Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.
  • Ability to deal with the general public.
  • Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications within 90 days of hire.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITION

  • Must pass criminal background check which includes Livescan fingerprints
  • Proof of COVID19 vaccination unless an exemption for medical condition or sincerelyheld religious belief is granted.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:


  • Ability to continuously stand, walk or sit. Ability to function for more than two hours on your feet. Ability to bend, squat, climb stairs and lift frequently. Will be working in a Club environment with children. Ability to be outdoors during all seasons occasionally._
