Part-Time Academic Advisor

Position Reports to the Director of Advising

Hourly Rate:
$35.00 per hour faculty contract rate)


FLSA Status:
Non-Exempt


This position is 5 days per week with a total of 25 hours per week. During peak times, employee may work up to 29 hours.

Hours are Monday through Friday with a Saturday rotation. Work is done on the day shift, with one evening per week required.
- _This position has college-wide responsibilities_ _and requires travel between all campuses and off-site locations._

Basic Purpose:


This position provides one-on-one as well as group academic, career and college transfer advising to students resulting in a heightened level of student engagement, comprehensive decision-making and utilization of a vast array of services to support student success.


DUTIES:


  • Provides academic, transfer and career counseling.
  • Advises prospective, new and returning students concerning an educational plan that assists in meeting academic and/or professional goals.
  • Participates in case management for identified students (i.e. probation, Early Alert, etc.).
  • Participates in College Outreach activities such as Open House, New Student Orientation, high school onsite advising, etc.
  • Engages in ongoing learning through innovative professional development including, but not limited to, workshops, conferences, and other professional meetings that promote currency in discipline knowledge and instructional methods.
  • Acts as a resource for faculty and staff.
  • Works as a collaborative, professional member of the Student Affairs and Enrollment Management team.
  • Adheres to professional and ethical standards of conduct.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Master's degree from an accredited institution required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and implementation of student development theory, including career and transfer decision making.
  • Experienced in developmental or college level advising.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of technologies.
  • Evidence of continued professional growth and development.
  • Demonstrated commitment to work with diverse populations, such as underresourced groups and firstgeneration students.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to a comprehensive community college philosophy.
