Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounting, Payroll and Benefits Specialist to join our team.

As a Payroll and Benefit Specialist, you will be responsible for managing employee benefits programs and ensuring compliance with company policies and government regulations.

Your role will involve being the first point of contact for employee and manager inquiries, working closely with the HR team and providing guidance and support regarding benefit plans and programs


Responsibilities:


  • Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other voluntary benefits
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure data accuracy and resolve any discrepancies
  • Assist employees with benefitrelated inquiries and provide guidance on available options
  • Responsible for running and processing fullcycle payroll, and all activities related to Canadian and US payroll. (e.g. Terminations, new hires, leaves, ROE, WSIB, EHT, T4, W2's etc.)
  • Prepare payroll journal entries and prepare monthly FTE reporting
  • Oversees enrollment, terminations, updates and reconciliations for the companywide benefit and retirement programs; Group health, COBRA, 401K, RRSP.
  • Coordinate with insurance providers to resolve claims issues and ensure timely processing
  • Prepare reports on benefit utilization, costs, and trends for management review
  • Coordinate with HR about changes in payroll and ensure all relevant paperwork is in place for audit purposes.
  • Input/audit employee changes and new hires into HRIS system as required.
  • Processing monthly Pay for Performance for operations team
  • Update monthly gas allowance spreadsheet and process monthly gas allowances
  • Provide support in the coordination of the company's disability (STD, LTD) and other leaves in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate with insurance providers and managers on gradual return to work plans where restrictions/accommodations are recommended.
  • Ensure that payroll data is accurately updated which includes adjustments, manual updates for claim extensions, maternity leave and any other details relating to an associates' compensation.
  • Process and administer other financial compensations or deductions (e.g. annual bonuses, severance pay, settlement etc.)
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations regarding employee benefits
  • Assist with general ledger reconciliation related to benefit expenses

Skills:


  • Experience with account reconciliation and general ledger reconciliation
  • Familiarity with payroll processes and procedures
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data management
  • Strong analytical skills to identify trends and resolve discrepancies
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee information
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively assist employees with benefit inquiries
  • Working experience with an HRIS
  • Excellent analytic, mathematical and organization skill
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform under time constraints
  • Strong critical thinking, problem solving, conflict resolution skills
  • Welldeveloped written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with all levels of staff and outside agencies

Education/Experience:


  • Postsecondary education in accounting, business, payroll, human resources, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of full cycle payroll experience using an inhouse system
  • Experience in defined benefit pension programs
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) required
  • Indepth knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation, Employment Standards, taxation rules and yearend reporting processes
  • Canada & USA Payroll a Must
  • Knowledge of accounting, payroll regulations and information systems issues to assure smooth interface between functions (Ceridian Dayforce, ADP, Rippling ideal)

Pay:
$63, $72,100.00 per year
