Duties:


  • Analyze outpatient treatment/health records for completeness and in accordance with regulations and requirements.
  • Utilizing automated medical records systems to retrieved and input information.
  • Applies knowledge of medical record practice, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, the major disease processes, relationships of internal parts of records and knowledge of legal requirements for consent for release of treatment information.
  • Verifies patient identification using DEERS rapids system and determines eligibility for care through a military medical facility.
  • Obtains necessary information from new patients for creation of medical records and file contents.
  • Answers phone calls from staff, patients and/or public and greets visitors.
  • Prepares and processes authorization for disclosure of documents on all requests for copies of medical records from patients, physicians, or other medical treatment facilities.

  • A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
  • Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • A preplacement medical examination is required.
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
  • Tuberculosis screening is required for all positions with direct patient contact.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 35 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.

Education: Two years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of by 60. Add the two percentages.
