    Job Title: Direct Support Professional (American Sign Language)

    Location: Kansas City, Missouri

    Department: Individualized Supported Living Services

    Employment Type: Full-time

    Shift: Monday Friday (8:00am 5:00pm CST)

    Job Summary: Are you a dedicated mental health professional interested in positively impacting the lives of children and adolescents? Join our team at Preferred Family Healthcare in Kansas City, Missouri as a Direct Support Professional (DSP).

    • Provide direct care and support to individuals with disabilities and special needs.
    • Teach daily living skills, problem-solving strategies, communication techniques, and decision-making abilities.
    • Encourage community integration, participation in activities, and social events.
    • Ensure safety, monitor vital signs, and respond to emergencies.
    • Collaborate with families and healthcare providers to create personalized plans.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Provide direct care and assistance to individuals with various needs.
    • Promote independence and teach essential skills.
    • Ensure safety, monitor health, and respond to emergencies.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to create personalized plans.
    • Document observations and progress accurately and confidentially.
    • Participate in ongoing training and development.

    Education and/or Experience Qualifications:

    • Must be 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED.
    • One year experience in intellectual/developmental disabilities or completion of required training.

    Additional Qualifications:

    • Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle.
    • Strong communication, teamwork, flexibility, and compassion.
    • Experience in American Sign Language required.
