- Assess and identify difficulties of referred students with suspected handicaps through non-discriminatory, multi-factored diagnostic procedures; Interpret assessment information to teachers, students and parents
- Participate in the preparation of the Evaluation Team Report of all children assessed regarding student's individual strengths and weaknesses
- Assists educational staff in developing, implementing or modifying instructional strategies, classroom management procedures, intervention strategies and follow-up activities.
- Participate in IEP meetings upon request
- Adhere to state and federal guidelines and timelines when dealing with referrals.
- Participate in a differentiated referral process for students without disabilities.
- Participate in intervention assistance team conferences, on request, and suggests or model corrective procedures.
- Participate in kindergarten screening, if needed
- Serve as a consultant to parents, school personnel, and others on matters relating to the education and mental health of students.
- Serve as an integral member of the Crisis Response Team
- Cooperate with personnel of community health and social welfare agencies; may act as liaison between the school and juvenile court
- Attend inter-agency meetings
- Promote maximized integration of students with disabilities
- Maintain and organize confidential child study files containing all pertinent data relating to the referred child
- Acts as resource person for classroom teachers regarding research based interventions, accomocations and resource materials
- Maintain accurate and complete student records; prepare and submit all required reports
- Provide individual and group counseling for students, if needed
- Facilitate in-service education and professional development for teachers, parents, related service staff members, aides and other school staff; consult with the professional staff of the school system on the development of appropriate in-service training programs for teachers and staff
- Cooperate with appropriate community agencies, resources, and facilities concerned with students with disabilities
- Participate in the development of programs and research
- Participate in University Student Intern Training Programs
- Seek opportunities to improve skills and grow professionally; attend all required meetings and in-services.

- Noise level may escalate in group or event settings.

- Involves stress as a result of the responsibility to ensure that laws, regulations and procedural rules are followed, the responsibility of dealing with individual student concerns and maintaining student discipline, and the demands of maintaining effective communication with other staff members, students and parents.
- Remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout his/her employment at the ESC of Lake Erie West
- Complete a satisfactory background check
- Possess a valid driver's license or have transportation
