DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW


Institutional Research, Assessment, and Policy Studies (IRAPS) reports directly to the Campus Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor (CPEVC), providing support to senior leadership and other decision makers across campus in the areas of academic and enrollment planning, policy analysis, and the evaluation of student outcomes and equity.

IRAPS supports strategic planning and data-driven decision making and assessment by providing timely, accurate, consistent and reliable information.

IRAPS's major responsibilities are for reporting, analysis, and presentation of institutional data, administration and analysis of campus surveys, and support for learning outcomes assessment.


JOB SUMMARY


Under the general supervision of the Director of Assessment and Survey Research, the Survey Research Analyst supports evidence-based decision making and analysis of program and institutional effectiveness through a range of responsibilities related to campus-wide survey research projects.

The responsibilities include questionnaire design, programming of online surveys, survey administration, promotion, data management, basic and complex data analysis, report writing, creating dashboards, and presentation of findings to various audiences.

This position supports the central administration, as well as faculty and staff in academic programs, enrollment management, and student services.


APPOINTMENT INFORMATION

Budgeted Salary:
$82,300 - $96,200 / Annually.
  • Salary commensurate with skills, qualifications and experience.


Under California law, the University of California, Santa Cruz is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary above the posted range.

JOB DUTIES

40% - Survey Design and Administration

  • Responsible for implementation of official campus surveys including developing and programming of online surveys, sampling, administration, promotion, response rate monitoring, and merging of survey data with other sources of data.
  • Manages and stores survey data to ensure confidentiality and security.

35% - Analysis and Reporting

  • Responsible for designing and implementing basic and indepth analyses of survey data integrated with institutional research data.
  • Conducts descriptive and inferential statistical analysis, including multivariate methods.
  • Interprets findings in the institutional context and writes analytical summaries and comprehensive reports.

20% - Support for Use of Survey Data for Decision Making

  • Prepares dashboards and slide presentations.
  • Delivers presentations of survey results to various audiences on and off campus, including professional conferences.
  • Regularly updates the Campus Surveys website with recent reports and dashboards.
  • Consults units on how to interpret survey results in written and graphical forms, and how to develop evidencebased recommendations.

5% - Professional Development and Service

  • Maintains and further develops their survey research expertise and knowledge of the campus priorities, educational research, and technical advancements in software.
