Position Summary
The Housekeeper's main function is to offer all hotel guests clean and tidy overnight accommodations. The Housekeeper job is a multifaceted job. The housekeeper may serve as a Room Attendant performing general cleaning duties as assigned.
The Housekeeper may serve as a House Person escorting guests within a pre-determined radius of the property and running errands for the hotel.
Housekeeper is responsible for cleaning the hotel lobbies stairwells, restrooms, hallways, entryways, and sidewalks.The Housekeeper may also serve as a Laundry Person, who is responsible for counting, sorting and preparing all soiled linen to include but not limited to bed sheets, comforters, table linens, napkins, etc.
The Housekeeper serves as a positive team member with the Housekeeping department and other hotel departments.Major Responsibilities
Room Attendant Tasks:
- Obtains room assignments and master keys from Housekeeping Manager at the beginning of and throughout each shift.
- Checks rooms thoroughly for articles forgotten by guests and immediately turns over all items to the Housekeeping Manager.
- Removes all soiled linens, glasses, coffee cups, and used soap from the bedroom and bathroom.
- Cleans all waste baskets.
- Cleans bathroom thoroughly, in accordance with established standards. Cleaning the bathroom area includes but is not limited to mopping and cleaning toilets, showers, sinks and counters.
- Cleans bedroom, including carpet, thoroughly and in accordance with established standards. Cleaning the bedroom area includes, but is not limited to, making beds, dusting, vacuuming carpet, etc.
- Ensures all hallways are cleaned thoroughly in accordance with established standards.
- Replenishes supplies for the room.
- Stocks Room Attendant cart with the proper supplies at the end of each shift in preparation for the next day.
- Reports clean rooms that are ready for occupancy to the Housekeeping Manager.
- Cleans a minimum of 18 rooms per 7 1⁄2 hour shift.
- Ensures all equipment is in working order and notifies the Maintenance Department for any needed repairs.
House Person Tasks
Housekeeping Tasks:
- Delivers linens, inroom amenities, and supplies to housekeeping closets.
- Returns dirty linens to laundry room and discards all trash.
- Washes and/or dries linens.
- Ensures all back of house areas, including entrances, break room, housekeeper closets, chute closets, and stairwells are clean and properly maintained.
- Maintains cleanliness in hallways, public restrooms, lobby, vending area, guest laundry, pool area, and fitness center.
Laundry Person Tasks:
- Receives, sorts, and launders soiled laundry.
- Inspects all laundry to ensure each piece is in acceptable working condition.
- Operates washer and dryer.
- Folds, counts, stacks, and delivers clean laundry to the proper storage area.
- Maintains linen supply in housekeepers' closets.
- Cleans linen and laundry rooms.
- Carries guests' luggage and assists the guest in any manner necessary to ensure the guest's comfort upon checking in.
- Ensures guest rooms are properly stocked with supplies &/or equipment and will deliver any guest amenities upon guest request.
