    The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

    Position Summary

    The Department of Radiology at the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University Irving Medical Center invites applications for Junior IT Consultant. The Junior IT Consultant will report to the Chief of Medical physics and be an integral part of the Radiology Physics and IT team at CUIMC. The position will involve working on a variety of projects including data anonymization, server management via Linux scripts, database development, custom software solutions and data analytics tailored for radiology and medical physics applications.

    Responsibilities

    • Assist in developing and executing Linux scripts for server automation and maintenance tasks.
    • Participate in the anonymization process of patient data to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.
    • Assist in database development and management, including data migration, backups, and querying.
    • Work on software development projects, particularly those aimed at enhancing radiology and physics workflows.
    • Work closely with the IT team to manage and maintain servers for radiology applications.
    • Collaborate with medical physicists and data scientists for special projects that require interdisciplinary expertise.
    • Provide technical support to radiology and physics staff as needed.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Knowledge in medical imaging standards like DICOM is an advantage.
    • Strong software development, data analytics and scripting skills with the ability to create customized solutions for specific needs.
    • Experience in healthcare is a plus.

    Other Requirements

    • Strong skills in Linux/Unix environments.
    • Proficient in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Ruby.
    • Familiarity with database technologies (e.g., SQL, NoSQL).
    • Experience in software development using languages such as Python, Java, or C++.
    • Good understanding of data anonymization techniques and compliance regulations.
    • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
