Summary:
Mechanical Packaging Lead Manager is responsible for safely maintaining, repairing, replacing and modifying all
company-owned and customer-owned packaging machinery with optimal safety, quality and efficiency. The region is
Santa Maria to Watsonville with occasional travel to Oxnard and outside CA to TX, GA, and FL as part of the national
Pratt Ag mechanical packaging team.
Position Requirements:
- Able & willing to travel outside of California for one week to three weeks at a time.
- Able to work weekends and holidays; common to work Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays during season
- Ability to walk, stand, on concrete and uneven surfaces for 812 hours/day
- Must have very effective organizational and communication skills.
- Previous mechanical service experience, 24 years preferred
- Positive Attitude and Professional Appearance
- Able to multitask and work in a fastpaced environment
- Must have a valid driver license and driving record in good standing.
Position Responsibilities:
- Repair, maintain and train maintenance staff on company & customer owned packaging machinery such as:
- Diagnose machine problems and order necessary parts.
- Develop PM schedules to ensure ideal machine operation, minimize downtime and prolong life of machines.
- Maintain proper inventory of normal wear & tear parts at warehouse, customers' facilities, and in vehicle.
- Alert operations manager of potential issues or persistent problems with inhouse and customer machinery.
- Train maintenance personnel and customer appointees how to operate machine and perform daily/weekly
- Conduct parts and machine inventory monthly and verify i.e. iMaintenance.
- Locate O.E.M. manufacturers and aftermarket distributors for best parts and/or improved service
- Maintain organized documentation, inspection records, PM records, work orders, machine parts, etc.
- Monitor, organize and participate in PM's as well as machine rebuilds of packaging machinery.
- Conduct yourself in a professional manner while in front of customers and coworkers.
- Understand both Pratt's and the customer's objectives including productivity, safety and quality.
- Serve as a resource and trainer to other mechanics.
- Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment at all times
- High school diploma or GED.
- 3 years' experience minimum. Prefer experience as maintenance manager, maintenance lead and/or maintenance technician, in industrial work environment.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Spanish/English Biliteracy Preferred
- Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with
- Ability for critical thinking and sound decision making.
