Trandes Corporation is seeking an Interior Communications Electrician and Electronic Technician who is experienced in the installation, maintenance, repair, and upkeep of the following interior communications systems within US Navy and US Coast Guard ships:

  • IVCS
  • Integrated Voice Communications System to include AN/STC-2(V), MarCom, AN/STC-3(V) and variants.
  • Ship Service Telephone Systems (SSTS)
  • Integrated Voice Communications Network (IVCN), Integrated Voice Network (IVN), Avaya Definity 75, and Avaya Server based systems.


  • Voice IC

  • Sound Powered and Announcing.
  • Shipboard Wireless Systems to include AN/SRC53(V), AN/SRC55(V), AN/SRC59(V), Personal Communications System (PCS), IVN Wireless, Ad Hoc Mesh Radio, and Land Mobile Radio (LMR) portable, mobile, and fixed station equipment.
  • Shipboard Video Systems to include OE556, AL7204, 6011, KVH, 27TV, and 28TV.


This position is home-based in San Diego, California (85%) and includes travel to temporary work sites or ports (15%) located in the continental U.S.

or foreign countries.


Experience Required:


  • Three (3) years recent, relevant experience associated with installation, maintenance and operation of shipboard interior communications systems.
  • Experience with specifications and standards governing the conduct of preventive and corrective maintenance of shipboard interior communications systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with inservice engineering activity program managers, shipboard technicians, and operational personnel as well as company engineers, technicians, and logisticians.
  • Excellent writing ability to properly convey work accomplished and associated technical data in written reports.
  • Ability to travel (at times short notice) to perform shipboard interior communications systems installation and technical assistance at temporary work sites or ports worldwide.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing repair and maintenance of hardware and software associated with shipboard interior communications systems.
  • Conducting Technical support for system assessment, troubleshooting (remote and onsite), repairs, distance support (remote technical guidance and troubleshooting), Help Desk support, and groom.
  • Providing hardware and software upgrade of equipment and systems, including site assessments and surveys, review of technical documents, drawings, specifications, etc.
  • Developing installation plan, with drawings, removal of existing hardware, preparation of location to receive new equipment, physical handling and mounting of system hardware, set up and termination of associated wiring.
  • Developing and revising training curriculum. Conducting Onthe
  • Job Training (OJT) for the operation and maintenance of interior communications equipment. Preparing for and conducting technical demonstrations; and briefings on new techniques, methods, equipment, and software changes.
  • Preparing written trip reports citing daily activities, any equipment discrepancies noted and corrective action taken, any recommendations offered, followup action required and activity responsible, and key personnel contacted.
  • Reviewing, interpreting and evaluating technical documents such as those listed below relating to the installation, troubleshooting, repair and overhaul of shipboard interior communications systems:
