- Upholding high standards of customer service, including greeting every customer, educating them about Appleton Farms and The Trustees, and helping them in a friendly manner. Must demonstrate familiarity with store products, answer phone calls, follow up on voicemails, and resolve customer complaints in person or over phone/e-mail, elevating to management as needed.
- Maintaining high standards of sanitation and safety. Adhere to all Board of Health requirements for food safety and proper storage
- Managing the POS system, including online and in person sales. Responsible for cash handling; reconciling the cash drawer at end of day; conducting credit card transactions; and handling returns and refunds.
- Performing opening and closing duties related to cash reconciliation, organization, and cleanliness.
- Assisting with inventory controls, including managing expiration dates; restocking shelves; merchandising; pricing new items and listing online with photographs and descriptions; and updating in-store signage.
- Other duties as assigned with or without accommodation.
- Background check required
- Flexible work schedule, at least one weekend day required
- Able to work well with people in a team environment, and to communicate effectively both written and orally
- Able to function and act both independently & as a team, plus make decisions & multitask under pressure.
- Math skills for handling and counting cash

- Prior customer service and food service experience (ServSafe certification a plus)
- Knowledge of agriculture, meat and dairy products preferred

Position Summary:
The Seasonal Retail Associate is a part-time, seasonal position (May-October) at the Appleton Farm Store and reports directly to Farm Store management. In this role, you will perform day-to-day operations, including: operating the cash register; processing online orders for pickup; selling Trustees memberships; restocking products; maintaining store cleanliness; and providing exceptional customer service as an ambassador of Appleton Farms and the Trustees.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for: food and cooking; sustainable agriculture and local farming; and community relationships and supporting small, local businesses. You model excellence in customer service and have experience contributing to all onsite requirements, with a general knowledge of online marketplaces; and the ability to learn new computer systems. This position requires someone who is a self-starter and has the ability to function independently and with a team. Candidate must be at least 18 years of age with a minimum of one year of work experience. Candidate must be able to consistently lift up to 40lbs & stand for long periods of time (at least 6 hours).
The Seasonal Retail Associate will have a weekly schedule of 10-20 hours per week (not to exceed 28 hours per week within the Appleton Farms Store hours of operation (Tuesday-Friday 9AM-7PM and Saturday-Sunday 9AM5PM) The position is for approximately 15 hours per week, depending on the week and candidate's availability. Start date is early May. The season runs through October.
Pay Rate: $16.25 per hour
