We are hiring a
Business Support Specialist for a key client of ours in Newark, NJ. This position supports billing, implementation, and vendor management support within the energy efficiency program of a major utilities company.

You will provide analytical and program implementation support for energy efficiency programs and support the workforce jobs initiative, electric vehicle and energy storage.

This includes working with third party vendors to deliver programs to market; the development, preparation and analysis of operational reports; development of procedures/process improvements; technical support and expertise to process owners.


Core job functions:


  • Daily use of SAP to review customer bill payment history.
  • Daily follow up on customer inquiries regarding their Energy Efficiency program On Bill Repayment OBR obligations and OBR exception reviews
  • Liaising with Residential program Implementation Contractor and their customer care vendor, PSE&G's CEF EE Agents, RES program implementation team members to resolve OBR questions.
  • Producing a monthly OBR Repayment Report
  • Reconciling OBR activity to SAP to OBR Billing uploads
  • Provide program implementation and analytical support for energy efficiency programs.
  • Support program development process by assessing other detailed offerings of related programs so that they can be incorporated into the plan, through development and launch; and subsequent enhancements and offerings.
  • Collaborates with other functional groups to ensure program offerings are delivered to market according to specifications.
  • Support the development, maintenance, data collection, analysis and preparation for weekly and monthly operational reports.
  • Develop and maintain databases to support program operations.
  • Develop and generate adhoc reports and operational/financial reports from existing systems, including but not limited to SAP and DSMC (DSM Central is a workflow management and reporting program).
  • Lead or support new program development initiatives, including process design and systems design.
  • Lead or support process improvement initiatives based on scorecard gaps and monitoring assessments.
  • Develop and prepare various management reports, internal audits, spreadsheets and charts of key program and departmental processes and metrics.
  • Gather and link data from diverse sources to identify data driven improvement opportunities.
  • Represent the department on various crossfunctional teams.
  • Maintain documentation of standard operating procedures, project status, etc.
  • Prepare PowerPoint presentations to summarize analyses and recommendations.

Advanced job functions:


  • Play a leadership role in the development, recommendation and implementation of new procedures/process improvements, often via crossfunctional teams.
  • Prepare status reports for management, developing and delivering appropriate communication materials.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to process owners. Drive efficiency and process improvement, utilizing leadership skills, data analysis and strong understanding of the business strategies.
  • Foster the refinement, understanding and enhanced utilization of process measures and benchmarking.
  • Work with outside vendors to oversee development of long range plans, potential studies, program evaluation, and special projects, as needed.
  • BS/BA degree in business, finance, or a related field of study
  • 1+ years of relevant work experience: business/financial analysis experience
  • Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills; strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated MS Access, Excel, PowerPoint and PC skills

  • Desired: Demonstrated high level of knowledge of residential energy efficiency programs, processes and practices
  • Ability to present written and oral work product clearly and concisely
  • Proficient in creating and maintaining databases in either Excel or Access
  • Desired: 5+ years relevant work experience including business/financial modeling experience,
  • Preferred: Experience in database management
  • Knowledge of Business Warehouse, SAP, Access, Sharepoint strongly desired
  • Knowledge of utility tariffs and accounting would be a major bonus
  • Drive efficiency and process improvement through knowledge of continuous improvement tools
  • Experience in managing external vendors
