Usher


LOCATION:
Boston, MA


HOURS:
Part Time, including nights, weekends, and holidays


COMPENSATION:
$16.22 hourly


ABOUT THE POSITION

  • Seeking ushers with great availability for night and weekend events.
  • Direct and/or escort ticketed guest patrons to their seat locations.
  • Quickly and efficiently scan tickets using electronic scanners.
  • Politely greet guests, convey general theatre policy information, seek out answers to questions if you don't know.
  • Be comfortable and able to work in a group and independently. Be amenable to assigned usher duties in any area of the theatre and /or reassignments.
  • Be able to use sound judgement and communicate in a courteous manner with guests that violate theatre or show policies. Liaise with Security Staff and Head Usher/House Manager to deescalate potential problems.
  • Be continuously alert of your surroundings and guest needs. Watch for unruly or disruptive behavior as well recognize and be proactive for guests that may be reluctant to ask for assistance.
  • Report any incidents or problems to Head Usher and the House Manager.
  • Ensure customers are adhering to venue Covidsafety measures in venue. Covid vaccination and a commitment to Covidsafe practices is a requirement.

EXPERIENCE and SKILLS

  • Previous paid ushering experience desired, but not required.
  • Exemplary customer service skills.
  • Ability to stand on feet for 34 hours at a time.
  • Pleasant and courteous demeanour.
  • Appreciation for live theatre etiquette and productions.
  • Ability to move or lift items weighing up to 15 pounds. These items include tables, signs, stanchions, boxes, etc.

COMPETENCIES

  • Must be capable of following all laws, building codes, ordinances, policies, procedures, risk management and emergency procedures are followed.
  • Any ushers that work a certain number of shows will be expected to join the usher union, IATSE Local B4.

Shifts available starting in July.
