Description

About us
Unicorn Garden, Inc. was established in 1991 and has served the needs of well over 350 boys over the past 25 years. Throughout history the symbol of the Unicorn has represented great strength. The Unicorn is believed to possess physical and spiritual healing properties. In medieval times, the Unicorn was seen as an emblem of Christ, signifying the spiritual life of man. Through the ages the Unicorn has been a universal symbol of hope. Healing and hope is what we seek to provide for the boys entrusted to our care.

Unicorn Garden operates two homes for boys. All two homes are located within several blocks of each other. The homes are segregated by age groups. Each facility is a comfortable family style home with total usable space of approximately 1400 square feet. Each home has a front and back yard available for recreation. Each home is within walking distance of public schools and a public park.

Each Unicorn home is licensed by the California State Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division. Our staff meets or exceeds the requirements for certification by the State of California.

Unicorn Garden's program is operated in compliance with the regulations set forth in the California Health and Safety Code, the Welfare and Institutions Code, and the California Administrative Code, relative to Short Term Residential Therapeutic Programs.

Unicorn Garden's overall goal is to work with the child, the Child and Family Team, Kern County Department of Human Services, Kern Behavioral Health and Recovery Services, the child's family, and our internal team to transition the child to a permanent lower level of care with a Resource Family or the child's family.
