Job Title:
Director of the Veterans Food Market


Reports To:
Executive and Deputy Director


Rate of Pay:
Starting $50,000 salary.


Job Overview:

The Director of the Veterans Food Market serves as a key member of the leadership team. The Marketplace Director is primarily responsible for overseeing staff and ensuring the market is well stocked.


Essential Job Functions:

Assure that VOW has a long-range strategy which achieves its mission and toward which it makes consistent and timely progress.

Provide leadership in developing program, organizational, and financial plans as well as carrying out plans and policies authorized by the board and Executive Director.

Promote active and broad participation by volunteers in all areas of the organization's work.

Maintain official records and documents, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Develop and administer operational policies and guidelines.

Oversee the design, marketing, promotion, delivery, and quality of programs, products, and services. This includes food supply, access, and distribution.

Oversee the maintenance of a database accounting for all food processed through the pantry.

Assure that the facilities are maintained to ensure a safe and clean working environment for employees and volunteers and that equipment is adequately maintained and kept current to process inventory.

Manage organization's staff including recruiting, hiring, performance management, compensation, and discharge.

Recruit, manage, motivate, evaluate, and retain volunteers to produce organizational results.

Publicize the activities of the organization, its programs, and goals.

Establish sound working relationships and cooperative relationships with community groups and organizations.

Represent the program and point of view of the organization to agencies, organizations, and the public.

Plan warehouse space and lead to team to plan group project and major food drives including special distribution (holidays.)

Occasional weekend work for fund raising events and food drives.

Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

Management experience required, ideally within a warehouse setting or food pantry.

Ability to lead a team with mínimal direction.

Ability to use various computer software programs.

Strong strategic leadership and problem-solving skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Ability to operate standard delivery van and 20-36ft box trucks as needed.

Valid driver's license

Additional Information
Work is performed in a warehouse with a significant amount of walking on concrete surfaces.

Entrances may be open, and work conditions during the summer months can be very hot and during winter very cold.

Employees may be going in and out of freezers with variations in temperature. Work involves moving boxes and employees must lift, bend, stoop, pick up and move objects up to 50 pounds.

Work involves using manual pallet jacks and therefore requires the ability to push pull pallets that can at times weigh very heavy.

This position is full-time 40 hours per week; this position requires flexibility in a work schedule.
