- 15 credits for the year
- Courses may include but are not limited to courses required for the Communication Arts license.
- Serve as Licensure Program Lead of the Communication Arts Licensure and M.Ed. programs.
- Cultivate partnerships with local schools.
- Collaborate with the Office of Teacher Education regarding year-long clinical placements in MEd Initial Licensure programs.
- Collaborate with multiple stakeholders (e.g., faculty, staff, and graduate students across the department; current and future students).
- Participate in the planning and facilitation of recruiting initiatives, orientations, college-level events, and team meetings.
- Advise or co-advise Literacy students.
- Serve as an Academic Advisor for the Initial Licensure Students in the Literacy Program.
- Collaborate with the Departmental Student Advisor and College-Level Student Advisors on issues related to student advising and experience.
- Serve on doctoral committees as an affiliate member of the graduate faculty in the Department of Curriculum & Instruction (Note: If holding a doctoral degree and subject to approval by the Department's graduate faculty members after hire).
- Earned doctoral degree in an education field.
- Demonstrated leadership in education.
- Evidence of an explicit commitment to equity, access, and diversity matters related to markers of difference including, but not limited to race, social class, gender, language, and sexuality.
- Capacity to be a flexible, situational, and visionary leader who effectively leads and collaborates with others.
- Evidence of organizational ability, including the ability to coordinate multiple tasks.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- At least 3 years as teacher of record in a Communication Arts classroom.
- K-12 teacher leadership experience (e.g., instructional coach, grade-level lead, equity-team member).
- Teaching experience in higher education.

Position Overview
The Department of Curriculum and Instruction in College of Education and Human Development at the University of Minnesota, invites applications for a Lecturer in Literacy. Primary duties of this position will be to offer leadership to the M.Ed Initial Licensure program, with the opportunity to advise students across all of the Literacy programs.
The Literacy program provides critical and forward-thinking preparation for those interested in exploring education broadly conceived, those interested in becoming Communication Arts teachers, and those interested in assuming positions as scholars, researchers, or educational policy-makers --with a strong philosophical, theoretical, research-based, and practical understanding of the dynamic interplay among equity, diversity, access, pedagogy, and curriculum.
The incumbent in this position will be part of a vibrant team committed to imagining equity-minded teacher education. Candidates must possess an explicit commitment to equity, access, and diversity matters related to markers of difference including, race, social class, gender, language, and sexuality.
This is a 9-month, 100%, annually renewable P&A position. Position will start on August 29, 2022 for the Academic Year.
Salary Range: $59,000 - $63,000 annually.
