The Position


Join our growing team Marquis Medical Supplies is looking for a Medical Billing Specialist with a minimum of two years' experience to become an integral part of our billing and collections team.

This person will be a full-time, goal-oriented, revenue-driven, highly accurate and motivated biller.

  • Specific knowledge of Medicare, commercial, and thirdparty insurance company rules and guidelines governing billing activities
  • Knowledge of CPT4, ICD9/ICD10, HCPC, UB04 coding; familiarity with HCFA and medical terminology, procedure codes and billing procedures
  • Working knowledge of insurance billing/coding rules and regulations (state and federal) for claims processing
  • Intermediate experience of A/R principles, in & outofnetwork claims, working and reconciling reports daily, followingup on claims
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Must have strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize activities
  • Ability to manage relationships with various insurance payors
  • Experience in filing claim appeals with insurance companies to ensure maximum entitled reimbursement.
  • Responsible with use of confidential information; must have HIPPA certification or willingness to become certified.
  • Perform to company standards of compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and respectfully with fellow employees, clients, and patients.
  • Ability to work in a productiondriven environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills resulting in positive communication.
  • Ability to demonstrate analytical and mathematical skills
  • Must know appropriate use of modifiers including NCCI edits, LCDs and NCDs as applicable for specific facility/payor assigned

Detailed Work Activities:


  • Accept incoming claims from all over the United States and field them to their appropriate destination.
  • Data entry of all patient demographics and insurance information.
  • Verify completeness and accuracy of all claims prior to submission.
  • Ensure all claims are submitted with a goal of zero errors.
  • Timely followup on insurance claims, denials, exceptions and exclusions.
  • Read and interpret insurance explanation of benefits.
  • Utilize monthly aging accounts receivable report to followup on unpaid claims aged over 30 days.
  • Make necessary arrangements for medical records requests, completion of additional information requests, etc. as requested by insurance companies.
  • Respond to inquiries from insurance companies, patients, and providers.
  • Be attentive and aware of insurance processing errors that could result in lost revenue for the company.
  • Post deductibles, copays, coinsurances, contractual adjustments and payments.

Additional Requirements:


  • Two (2) years medical and/or healthcare billing/collections experience required
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Willingness to submit to a background check
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
