News & World Report) providing highly skilled employees to meet the temporary staffing needs at Hospitals.

Now part of the Partners HealthCare network, BFT offers temporary staffing support to all PHS affiliates, including MGH, Brigham and Women's Hospital, Faulkner Hospital, Newton Wellesley Hospital, North Shore Medical Center, Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, McLean Hospital, Neighborhood Health Plan and health centers and primary care medical practices affiliated with Partners.

GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:

Operates shuttle bus and/or passenger coach type vehicles. Ability to safely operate a 40ft vehicle and over 26,000lbs. Ability to safely transports up to 50 passengers to various destinations while adhering to traffic laws and company policies. Adheres to assignments in accordance with scheduled shuttle routes prepared by the Manager, Supervisor, and/or Dispatcher. Reports to the Supervisor of Transportation (or to a designated individual in the Supervisor's absence).


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Operates vehicles in accordance with Mass General Brigham Fleet Safety Program Policies and Procedures, as well as in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Provide safe, courteous and professional service to passengers while enroute to/from destinations.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, including assisting passengers with directions and other inquiries.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws, regulations, and company policies while operating the vehicle.
  • Inspects vehicle at the beginning and end of each shift to ensure operating effectiveness.
  • A walkaround inspection of the exterior and interior for all safetyrelated items will be included in the inspection.
  • Reports any damage or inoperative equipment to the Supervisor or designee immediately.
  • Maintains the interior while the vehicle is under operator's control.
  • Assists passengers with disabilities and others needing assistance to board and disembark from the vehicle via the wheelchair lift.
  • Maintains an accurate log documenting numbers of passengers, trips completed, mileage, interior/exterior vehicle inspection and other information which might be requested.
  • Conducts him/herself in accordance with all applicable hospital policies.
  • Reports vehicular accidents according to department policies and procedures.
  • Reports any emergencies/concerns with vehicle and/or passengers immediately to the Supervisor and/or Dispatcher.
  • Occasionally may need to communicate effectively to emergency services (i.e., 911, Police, Fire, and/or other emergency personnel)
  • Always maintain a professional demeanor and appearance.
  • May also be required to transport light cargo, mail, and other small items between sites when operating a shuttle bus and/or passenger coach type vehicle equipped to carry these items.
  • Reports for duty drugfree and remains drugfree during tour of duty in accordance with hospital policy.
  • Good customer service/communication skills.
  • Maintain current safety training status in the transport of passengers and operation of the wheelchair lift.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

  • Proficient in interacting with the public.
  • Ability to handle heavy traffic, demanding passengers, and/or adverse weather conditions.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, and/or REGISTRATIONS:


Required:

  • Current Valid CDL Class B License w/passenger & air brake endorsement


  • DOT Medical Card

  • Physical examinations required by CDL regulations (conducted by Occupational Health)

EDUCATION:


Minimum Required:

High school diploma, GED or equivalent


EXPERIENCE:


Required:


  • Proven experience as a shuttle bus driver
  • Excellent driving skills with the ability to navigate various road and weather conditions safely.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in recordkeeping and documentation.
  • Ability to manage time and keep to a schedule effectively.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to company policies and regulations.

Preferred:


  • Knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance procedures.
  • Multilingual abilities may be advantageous, especially in regions with diverse populations.

Shifts:


  • Shifts may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Drivers are exposed to various weather conditions and must be prepared to work in both indoor and outdoor environments
