    Who We Are Looking For:

    Are you the Post Overdose Community Health Worker we have been looking for? In this position you will be able to convey your passion for helping others by working with people in the community

    JRI's Program RISE is a multi-service program serving the Metrowest area. RISE offers free confidential HIV counseling, testing and referrals, STI and Hepatitis testing, HIV Case Management, Housing Search & Advocacy, Peer Support Services, LGBT services, Overdose Prevention and Education, Needle Exchange, community education programs on HIV, STIs, viral Hepatitis, harm reduction, and LGBTQ cultural competency.

    Salary: $40,000 - $45,000 per year

    JRI Provides The Training So That:
    • YOU will develop, implement, manage and evaluate the Post-Overdose Follow-up Program, with the goals of preventing overdose deaths in the Metrowest area.
    • YOU will provide post-overdose outreach and follow-up accompanied by someone from the police or fire department to visit overdose survivors and their family in the days or weeks following the overdose event.
    • YOU will support survivors and their families by providing information on insurance options, and/or treatment facilities, referrals, counseling services, harm reduction services, and develop an overdose response plan, and or explore strategies for reducing the risk of another overdose.
    • YOU will provide supported short-term health navigation to address substance use.
    • YOU will provide education and enroll people on naloxone administration at its core.
    • YOU will administer a brief assessment to determine a person's risk for future overdose and/or readiness for treatment or other needed services that are client-centered.
    • YOU will conduct street outreach activities with the harm reduction team for people who use drugs in Metrowest area and settings where people who use drugs congregate.
    • YOU will provide education and drug user health information utilizing harm reduction and stages of change interventions by distributing safer sex, naloxone, and syringe supplies.
    • YOU will develop linkages to resources that address specialized needs, such as agencies providing services related to HIV/AIDS, mental health disorders, chronic and acute health problems, pregnant and parenting women, veterans and problems stemming from involvement with the criminal justice system.
    • YOU will provide workshops on naloxone & syringe access to communities and clients impacted by opioid addiction.
    • YOU will allow for a flexible schedule in order to accommodate hours for outreach and meeting attendance.
    • YOU will attend regularly scheduled meetings and trainings that support the mission and objectives of both agencies and/or that are mandated by the funding requirements.

    Requirements:
    • Must be 21 years or older.
    • Candidates must have a High School diploma. Candidates with a Bachelor's degree are preferred.
    • Candidates should have personal or professional experience in the guiding principles of recovery that assist individuals to improve their health and wellness, live a self-directed life, and reach their full potential.
    • Candidates must have at least 2 years' demonstrated experience working with high need individuals with substance use and mental health disorder.
    • Candidates who are a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor I or Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor II degree are preferred.
    • Candidates should be available to work evenings one evening per week and able to work alone in an unsupervised environment.
    • Candidates who are bilingual in Spanish/English and/or Portuguese/English are preferred.
    • Candidates should have knowledge of health promotion and HIV, STI and Viral Hepatitis prevention strategies.
    • Candidates should have knowledge and understanding of the relevant evidence-based interventions (will train).
    • Candidates should have excellent counseling and communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of an integrated team.
    • Candidates should have a strong sense of professionalism, boundaries, and ethics.
    • Candidates should have a valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.
    • Background and driving record checks will be performed.
