***The primary purpose of this position is to assist and support the principal in providing leadership; direct and manage the instructional program; supervise operations and personnel at the campus level; provide leadership to ensure high standards of instructional service while maintaining a positive campus culture and climate; oversee compliance with federal, state, and local policies.


RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Organizes, plans and implements the school's standardized testing program and benchmarks
  • Maintains accurate and complete records of assigned programs and projects and punctually submits accurate reports as may be required by law, District policy, or administrative regulation
  • Implements a discipline management system that produces a productive campus environment
  • Demonstrates professional interactions and support for cooperatively reached decisions
  • Works with teachers to provide instructional intervention and other strategies to support students
  • Maintains inventory of equipment and materials assigned to teachers and staff
  • Supervises teacher instruction
  • Supervises general administrative tasks
  • Assists the principal in selecting and mentoring a high quality school staff
  • Assists the principal in teacher evaluation, mentoring and support
  • Complies with federal, state, local laws and board policies and procedures and other school district initiatives
  • Offers professional development opportunities related to assignedcontent area(s) and/or campus improvement plans
  • Provides technical assistance to the instructional staff concerning the teaching/learning process and classroom management
  • Assists teachers in implementation of individual student accommodations and modifications as designed by the ARD committee
  • Serves as liaison between district office and campus
  • All other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree; Master's degree preferred
  • Valid Texas Administrator's Certificate
  • ILD and PDAS certification; T-TESS preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years teaching experience, preferably in an atrisk setting with urban students
  • Minimum of 3 years instructional leadership experience
  • Experience working with diverse student populations, parents, and other stakeholders

EXPECTED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:


  • Ability to build and sustain positive, collaborative relationships both internally and externally
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local educational goals, objectives, accountability and compliance
  • Knowledge of learning theory, program planning, curriculum and technology integration in the classroom and management of instructional programs
  • Knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements in area of responsibility
  • Ability to interpret laws, rules, and policies
  • Ability to plan and present information to a variety of audiences
  • Ability to facilitate various size groups using facilitative leadership skills
  • Ability to manage budget and personnel
  • Skills in written and oral communication, planning, and organization
  • Knowledge of current educational trends, methods, research, and technology
  • Indepth knowledge of assigned program and service area
  • Ability to collect, analyze and interpret data
  • Knowledge of STEM, PBL, PLTW, JASON and Fine Arts
