$105,000 - $145,000 / yearDescriptionAs an Avionics Mechanical Design Engineer at Impulse, your responsibility will be to design and test the mechanical elements of spacecraft avionics, including enclosures and brackets, as well as more complex assemblies like mechanisms, battery packs, and optical devices.
ResponsibilitiesDevelop and test the mechanical elements of new high-performing avionics devicesWork closely with electrical, propulsion, GNC, and vehicle structures engineers to execute on architectures and products that maximize overall vehicle performanceAnalyze structural modes, thermal performance, and other critical aspects of avionics devicesDesign products for ease of manufacture, and work with suppliers to produce componentsDevelop and document efficient build processes, work with technicians to improve instructionsOwn the interface between avionics and vehicle structures.
Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field3+ years experience in mechanical designProficiency in CAD software with the ability to learn new toolsFamiliarity with designing metal parts that are easy to manufacture and assembleUnderstanding of GD&T and tolerancingAbility to communicate technical challenges, explain rationale, and resolve concernsPreferred Skills and ExperienceMaster's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related fieldExperience with mechanical design in challenging vibration/thermal environmentsExperience with motor design, optics, harness routing, RF, or vacuum chambers/environmentsExperience at a startup or agile development environmentExperience with NX and TeamcenterAdditional Information:Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data.
Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity.
In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
