Somerset County Public Schools' is seeking a Project Manager for DORS Summer Youth Employment Program

  • Maintain positive relationship with local/community business partners from previous year(s). Visit and explain program to possible new business partners. Correspond with DORS representative and case managers to ensure that all students of age/interested in program have been referred to DORS and are setup for Preemployments services.
  • Work with Finance Dept.
  • Budget for program, maintaining appropriate paperwork (timesheets, mileage sheets, etc...)
  • April/May: Match students with job positions. Get signed agreement from business, share student information with them that is important for them to know.
  • May/June: Work with Human Resources (Interviewing job trainer applicants, ensure all paperwork needed for students and job trainers is obtained. Meet with students & guardians to assist in completion of HR paperwork.
  • June: Provide training for job trainers, meet and get to know one another with students, business representatives. (June)
  • June: With assistance of job trainers provide training to students on: work ethics, how to dress, job responsibilities, etc. (June)
  • June through August: Maintain daily contact with job trainers, visit job sites, maintain paperwork, communication with businesses weekly, work closely with finance (timesheets, mileage sheets, etc.) Complete any reports required.
  • Provide remedial intervention as needed.

A. Education and/or Experience**
B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations**Must have a valid driver's license.


C. Language Skills**Ability to read, analyze, and interpret necessary paperwork. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of students, teachers, parents and administrators.


D. Mathematical Skills**Must have good basic arithmetic skills.


E. Reasoning Ability**Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Must use good judgment in working with assigned student(s) and when dealing with parents/caregivers.


F. Computer Skills**To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer skills. Pursues training and development opportunities to expand technology knowledge if needed.


G. Other Skills and Abilities**Inspires and motivates others to perform well; Accepts feedback and criticism. Must be able to prioritize and plan work schedules; Use Time efficiently; and set goals and objectives. Must be dependable. Must possess good interpersonal skills and have ability to motivate persons of diverse backgrounds. Ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent; Arrives at meetings and appointments on time.


H. Other Qualifications
Must enjoy working with students with multiple perspectives and mult-cultural differences.

Must understand difficult child behavior and be able to tolerate and respond in a positive manner to those students with difficult behavior and slow learners.

Individual must have their own transportation and cell phone as the position will involve interaction with the business and professional community.
