Job Description:

Job Type: PT Adjunct
Traditional On Ground or Online class: On-ground Class East Longmeadow Campus
Undergraduate or Graduate class: Graduate
Date class is scheduled to begin: 9/5/2024
Class schedule: Lecture meets 2 time each week for 1 hour and 25 minutes each time (for a total of 2 hours and 50 minutes a week)
Duration of class: 9/5/-12/16/2024
Time of class: Lectures meet synchronously face to face 2 times each week. Schedule flexible to meet instructor availability but must fall between the hours of 8 am and 5 pm Monday - Thursday.

Course Description:

OTP 504: Foundations of Neuroscience (3 credits): This course focuses on the application of anatomy and function of the human nervous systems and its role in development, movement, sensation, cognition, perception, and behavior to support the understanding of neurorehabilitation practice. Normal function and dysfunction of the peripheral and central nervous systems are reviewed including the spinal cord, brainstem, cerebrum, visual and vestibular systems. Concepts and knowledge are linked to selected neurological disorders, clinical problems, and case studies.

Requirements:

Degree requirements for position: Master's or higher preferred
Previous teaching experience: Previous teaching experience preferred: within areas of OT
Evidence of engagement in scholarly work
Current Massachusetts Occupational Therapy license
Participate in course development.
Current licensure as an OTR.
Eligible for professional licensure in Massachusetts.
Ability to use the University's resources, notably technology, to promote effective teaching and learning.
Work collaboratively with the Program Director and other faculty to ensure the course meets accreditation standards.
Engage in the process of formative and summative course evaluation to enhance the student learning experience.
Adhere to HIPPA and FERPA privacy standards.
Ability to adhere to University policies and procedures.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
