The WJB Dorn VA Medical Center located in Columbia, SC is recruiting for BC/BE Psychiatrists.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Provide general clinical psychiatric services to Veterans and including on-call services
General psychiatric care of adult Veterans and may include, but are not limited to, conducting diagnostic evaluations, psychiatric consults, medication management, and individual or group psychotherapy
Psychiatrist may be expected to provide direct clinical supervision of mid-level providers, psychiatric advanced practice nurses or physician assistants and other staff as appropriate
Psychiatrist is required to exercise judgment in the selection of or adaptation of standard and accepted clinical theories, techniques, and practices in treating patients or developing new techniques and programs for the treatment of specialized problems or clinical populations.
Other services include, but are not limited to, treatment common patient diagnoses to include anxiety disorders, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Major Depression and other mood disorders, Substance Use Disorders, Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, and other Serious Mental Illnesses, Dementia, mental disorder related to Traumatic Brain Injuries and any other psychiatric interventions deemed necessary by Mental Health Service Line management.
The Psychiatrist shall be expected to cooperate with and participate in, medical duties or functions related to quality of care, peer review, improvement and with other performance improvement activities. Psychiatrist carries an outpatient clinical workload along with assigned administrative and professional responsibilities. Psychiatrist is responsible for the longitudinal management of the patient within a sound clinical environment, while creating an efficient cost-management of the patient's on-going care.
Psychiatrist is responsible for ensuring the highest quality of care; conducts history, physical exams and mental status exams on assigned patients; completes intake assessments and formulates diagnosis; develops and presents treatments plans to the multidisciplinary treatment team; orders all necessary laboratory and radiological assessments; initiates consults and referrals; maintains effective and up-to-date documentation of patient encounters; performs other duties as assigned
Outpatient psychiatrists have one hour for new intake (only one daily), and 30 minutes to see each follow up visit. There is also 90 minutes allotted during the course of the day to complete notes, return phone calls, etc.
Work Hours: Generally Monday - Friday, Days (8am-4:30pm), but could be flexible as we serve a hospital with on-call duties required and evenings/weekends, as necessary.
Salary Range: Up to $300,000 per year

Qualifications Required:
Citizenship: Citizen of the United States. Noncitizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens.
Licensure and Registration: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia. The physician must maintain current registration in the State of licensure if this is a requirement for continuing active, current licensure. The facility Director may waive this licensure requirement if the physician is to serve in a country other than the United States and the physician has licensure in that country.

Education: Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Approved schools are:
