The OR nurse provides coordination of a specialty service within the Operating Room and provides individualized age specific care that supports physical functioning.

Provides individualized, age-specific care that supports homeostatic regulation. Provides age-specific, individualized care that supports psychosocial functioning and facilitates lifestyle changes. Provides age-specific, individualized care that supports protection from harm. Provides age-specific, individualized care that supports the family unit. Provides care that supports effective use of the health care delivery system. Acquires and maintains current knowledge and competency in nursing professional practice. Works constructively with colleagues to advance clinical practice.


In the WDH OR, you will find:

  • Growth
  • We currently run eight operating rooms and we will soon be opening our ninth OR.
  • Growing orthopedic volume with twothree orthopedic rooms each day
  • Personal career growth our Nursing Education and management teams work with you to formulate a successful career plan.
  • Two DaVinici Xi robots encompassing General, GYN, Bariatric, and Urology service lines
  • A vascular hybrid room where we work closely with the Cath Lab to provide mínimally invasive procedures.
  • 8, 10, or 12hour shifts, depending on availability
  • 1. CLINICAL JUDGMENT
a. Appropriately assesses, plans, implements and evaluates patient care, specific to population served
b. Follows policies/procedures, clinical practice standards pertinent to care, including emergency situations
c. Matches formal knowledge with clinical events to make decisions
d. Demonstrates the ability to provide competent, effective care
e. Seeks validation for clinical decisions, integrates input from other clinicians for decision making
f. Prioritizes and organizes work appropriately to effectively meet patient needs
g. Appropriately delegates to and supervises team members based on assessment of competencies, within scope of practice to ensure appropriate implementation of care
h. Collaborates & communicates relevant patient data to appropriate persons clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing (e.g. handoffs)
i. Effectively develops teaching plan and regularly integrates teaching into patient care

  • Surgical Procedure
  • Provides care to a patient immediately prior to surgery/procedure and verifies required procedures/tests and documentation in the clinical record.
