Job Objective:
Under the direction of the Controller and/or designee, this position assists in preparation of the annual budgets; analyzes budget variances in productivity and non-labor expenses; assist with costing data; and assist with determining contractual adjustments.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Budgeting
- Assists Controller in the preparation of the annual capital and operating budgets
- Analyzes labor productivity budget variances from actual operating results; and investigates reasons for such variances
- Procures and maintains statistical data with respect to units of volume (e.g., patient days, patient discharges, ER visits, procedures performed, etc.)
- Assist with graphical charts displaying statistical and productivity data
- Analyzes expense budget variances from actual operating results; and investigates reasons for such variances
- Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual OSHPD reports.
Costing
- Provides analytical support for feasibility studies and financial projections
- Assist with cost profiles for hospital procedures performed and maintained on the hospital chargemaster file
- Helps to operate and maintain cost accounting system.
Revenue and Reimbursement
- Assist with determining the amount of contractual adjustments by insurer or payer group on a monthly basis
- Assist with determining payer collection rates
- Assists in the maintenance of the hospital chargemaster file
- Analyzes revenue budget variances from actual operating results; and investigates reasons for such variances
- Assists consultants in the preparation and filing of the annual cost report and controller's report
Non-Essential Duties:
- May review Accounts Payable check disbursements for correct vendor information, coding errors, discounts taken and sales tax.

Knowledge
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and QuickBooks
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- Knowledge in the reconciliation of complex bank accounts and balance sheet accounts
Skills
- Skillful in time management
- Good oral and written communication skills
Abilities
- Ability to operate a variety of office equipment including Computer and multifunction copier/facsimile/scanner
- Ability to follow verbal and written instruction
- Ability to process large quantities of documents and to work effectively within deadlines in a fastpaced environment
Education and Experience:
Education
- Bachelor Degree in Accounting and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience
- Minimum 3 years Accounting and/or Financial Planning & Analysis experience preferred.
