Are you detail-oriented with a passion for supporting professional development initiatives? ASCO is currently seeking a highly motivated Program Associate to assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of our self-evaluation products and programs.

This position is hybrid, with a primary location in Alexandria, VA. We anticipate the hire to be onsite approximately 1-2 days per week.

  • Responsibilities
  • Act as frontline representative to stakeholders by responding to customer service inquiries and working within a team environment to resolve any issues.
  • Provide troubleshooting support and track technology issues that impact user experience.
  • Follow established workflows for entry, tracking, and maintenance of data and content in multiple platforms that support initiatives and volunteer workforce (e.g., learning management system, enterpriselevel testing platform).
  • Assist team members in copyediting, figure compliance, and ensuring educational content meets quality standards before publication.
  • Partner with team members, outside vendors, and volunteers to maintain and troubleshoot the question and manuscript submission systems.
  • Review and maintain ASCO websites and online platforms.
  • Compile and maintain associated educational content materials for publication.
  • Provide administrative support to volunteer work groups, including but not limited to: maintaining and tracking group registration materials, conflict of interest disclosures, and invoices for honoraria; drafting and disseminating meeting agendas, materials, and call notes.
  • Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, or a related degree, or equivalent years of experience
  • 1 year of experience in an administrative or customer service role
  • Proficient experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Preferred Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, or a related degree
  • 2+ years of experience in an administrative role providing customer service
  • Highly developed in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat
  • Experience with Smartsheet, SharePoint, and a customer relationship management system
  • Proficiency with a learning management system, content management system, or question authoring system


  • Competencies

  • Ability and openness to quickly learn the organization's technology tools (e.g., customer relationship management system, learning management system)
  • Strong communication skills including writing, grammar, spelling, and proofreading
  • Ability to troubleshoot common technology issues with customers/volunteers
  • Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work well both independently and collaboratively to meet deliverables
  • Strong time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines, prioritize, multitask, and share information in a timely manner
  • Strong interpersonal skills with willingness to accept delegated tasks from several people
  • Dependable and has a positive attitude
  • Ability to give and receive feedback


  • ADA/Physical Requirements

  • Extended periods seated or standing at a desk.
  • High use of computer and other office technology equipment.
  • Travel 510 days per year
