Harlem Children's Zone (HCZ) — a world-renowned education and poverty-fighting organization based in New York — seeks an enthusiastic, dedicated, and mission-aligned Operations Manager to support our Armory Department.


The Operations Manager will bring a passion for the mission of Harlem Children's Zone: break the cycle of intergenerational poverty with comprehensive, on-the-ground programming that builds up opportunities for children and families to thrive in school, work, and life.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with at least 2 years of related experience

Who You Are

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Outlook, Google Suite, HR software, and/or accounting software is preferred
  • Strong work ethic with impeccable attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be comfortable working independently and as part of a broader team
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
  • Proven success in administering multiple projects simultaneously and prioritizing workload

What You'll Do

  • Provide direct support to the Armory Director, proficient in managing longterm deliverables and meeting agendas for the leadership team
  • Collaborate with building personnel to produce materials for building upgrades or renovation
  • Support the Director in developing and implementing systems across the operations portfolio
  • Oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of the facility, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all visitors.
  • Implement strategies to enhance the overall customer experience, including efficient registration processes, clear communication channels, and responsive support services.
  • Manage the daytoday delivery and workflow of assigned projects
  • Support the Armory leadership team in tracking highpriority initiatives
  • Document and disseminate best practices for Operational Support staff comprised of fulltime and parttime roles
  • Complete basic administrative tasks (manage calendars, schedule meetings, file documents, etc.)
  • Removing roadblocks and barriers for building operations through proactive problemsolving
  • Documenting operational systems by creating robust, scalable, welldocumented procedures
  • Contributing to the leadership of the organizationwide Operations team, including coordinating training as requested and contributing to longterm planning for Operations
  • Organizing, communicating, and reporting on deliverables
  • Ability to perform routine maintenance tasks preferred
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned

Schedule

  • Tuesday through Saturday, 8:30 am 4:30 pm
