Collins is seeking a Director to lead the PCS Engineering Organization.
This leader is the single engineering point of contact for the Engineering Portfolio Leader and the PCS General Manager, accountable for managing all engineering activities within the business.
This includes meeting technical requirements within allocated cost and schedule commitments as well organizational leadership, goal setting and improvement initiatives.
The PCS Engineering Director leads a cross-functional and multi-site organization comprised of Chief Engineers, and Discipline Leaders (Systems, Software, Hardware, and Whole Life Engineering) in the capture and execution of programs.
They are the approval authority for, Program EACs, Gates and Engineering Bid Reviews, in accordance with the approved Delegation of Authority (DOA).
This position is located onsite in Marlborough, MA or Largo, FL. Eligible for relocation.Primary Responsibilities:
- Acts as primary engineering interface to the PCS Value Stream General Manager (VSGM)
- Partners with the PCS VSGM in the establishment and execution of the Annual Operating Plan and Strategic & Financial Plan for the PCS business
- Provides organizational leadership to the 500+ crossdiscipline and multisite engineers in the PCS business
- Leads a team of Engineering Fellows and Program Chief Engineers who provide technical and programmatic direction for assigned programs and are accountable for program performance
- Ensures programs are staffed with proper engineering personnel and skillsets to successfully execute programs within cost, schedule, and technical requirements; this includes hiring, training, mentorship, and management
- Ensures that proposals are appropriately staffed, that compliant Technical Baselines are developed to the appropriate maturity for the pursuit phase, and that DesigntoCost (DTC), cost and schedule targets are achieved with wellconsidered and clearly communicated risk and opportunity profiles
- Supports root cause investigations, corrective action, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Communicates overall engineering program cost, schedule, EV, and technical metrics against approved baselines
- Ability to multitask with a focus on daily issues and longerterm strategies
- A minimum of 20% travel will be required with this role
Qualifications/Experience Needed:
- Experience in leading large (150+ personnel) organizations.
- Experience in the design, development, and qualification of hardware, software, and systemofsystems
- Experience with NRE, NPI, support to operations, and the use of productlines
- Solid interpersonal skills with experience in employee management, coaching, and mentoring
- Strong computer skills to include extensive use of Microsoft Office
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 14 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 12 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience
- Active and transferable DoD Secret clearance is required prior to start date.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active and transferable DoD Top Secret clearance
- MS in Engineering or MBA degree
