- Responsibilities:
- Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols
- Enhance professional growth and development through educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshops
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients/families
- Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety
- Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk
- Work within Hospitals, Nursing division and departmental policies
- Collaborate with the healthcare team, implement and document individualized care plans
- Administer medication, including IV medication, via the Seven Rights; document and communicate clinical findings
- Assist with special tests and procedures, ensuring proper consent has been obtained
- Assist with or institute emergency measures for sudden, adverse developments in patients
- Deliver safe direct care to an assigned group of patients
- Ensure that patient medical records contain necessary information
- Answer telephones and triage calls as per departmental policy
- Participate in orientation and precepting new personnel
- Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner
- Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care
- Adhere to and promote the core expectations of Patient Centered Medical Home or Patient Centered Specialty Practice
- Education:
- Program Graduate
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (non-essential)
- Nationally Accredited Nursing Graduate
- Nursing specialization
- Experience:
- 1 year directly related experience
- Bilingual English/Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo (non-essential)
- Bilingual English/Spanish (non-essential)
- Credentials:
- CPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers within 30 days
- RN in NM or as allowed by reciprocal agreement by NM
- PALS within 6 months of position
- Basic Arrhythmia Cert within 1 year
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification within 6 months
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) within 6 months of hire
- Nationally Certified in area of specialty (non-essential)
- PALS certification (non-essential)
- TNCC and/or ENPC (non-essential)
- Physical Conditions:
- Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.
