- Play a vital part in the company's financial management which includes assigning projects & directing staff as well as reviewing account reconciliations.
- Oversee the accounting team by assessing staff performance, providing feedback, and creating goals and procedures.
- Manage financial information by reviewing financial documents created by staff accountants and suggesting changes or improvements to these documents.
- Set goals and priorities for the accountants by working closely with the controller to identify accounting priorities, creating processes to meet those goals, and directing staff to implement those processes.
- Achieves accounting operational objectives by contributing accounting information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends; determining system improvements; and implementing change.
- Guides other departments by researching and interpreting accounting policy and applying observations and recommendations to operational issues.
- Maintains financial security by establishing internal controls.
- Protects the organizations value by keeping information confidential.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
- Establishing and enforcing proper accounting methods, policies, and principles
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with a portion of it being in a supervisory role
- CPA preferred
- Must be an outstanding communicator and have established skills in accuracy, organization, and working in a high-volume environment with tight deadlines
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills
- Knowledge of accounting principles, practices, procedures, and systems
- Advanced proficiency in Excel required
- Familiarity with large ERP System (NetSuite, SAP, Peoplesoft, etc.) NetSuite user preferred
