Director of Public Works (m/f/d):


(Full-time, 39 hours/week):


Your responsibilities include:


  • Management, organization, and coordination of the Public Works Department (including the departments of water supply, sewer, wastewater treatment, roads, and thirdorder waterways)
  • Independent project management of municipal construction projects in coordination with relevant departments
  • Project coordination with the Building Department and Administration
  • Preparation of the department's budget
  • Ensuring and expanding a demandoriented municipal infrastructure
  • Coordination and management of engineering firms and specialist planners
  • Preparation, review, and billing of contracts for engineering firms and specialist planners
  • Supervision of construction projects from planning to tendering to final billing
  • Documentation and internal reporting
  • Representation of the department in specialist committees and the public
  • Meeting service

Our requirements:


  • Completed degree in civil engineering, possibly with a focus on urban water management, or equivalent qualification with several years of experience in this field
  • Indepth knowledge of sewer construction, wastewater treatment, water supply, and road construction
  • Leadership experience; administrative experience is an advantage
  • Practical experience with VOB, VOL, VgV, UVgO, and HOAI
  • Very good MS Office skills, desirable GIS skills
