This is a professional level job which, under limited supervision, is responsible for the management of County contracted design construction projects, as well as oversight of solid waste equipment and facilities.

Essential Functions:

_These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position._**Plans, manages, and organizes design construction projects.

Creates contract scope and administers contracts.

Plans, estimates, and implements design construction contracts and projects.

Participates in review of design development and plans.

Manages the bidding and execution of construction contracts which includes contracts with Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) consultants.

Assists with the daily operations of the solid waste facilities. This includes review of equipment inventories, as well as budgeting for CIP and equipment. Makes recommendations to Division Manager regarding replacement needs, and potential changes in response to accidents or safety concerns.

Represents Seminole County in communicating with engineers, and contractors while construction is in progress.

Tracks and assists in coordinating training and development of Division personnel.


Additional Duties:

Performs other related work as required.


In the event of an emergency, all employees are considered essential personnel and may be required to perform alternate duties.


Minimum Qualifications:

A minimum of five (5) years experience in contract management or construction management

  • A comparable amount of education, training, or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications._

Additional Requirements:

Extensive knowledge of construction design methods, practices, and contract administration.

Ability to effectively administer and manage construction design contracts and projects through completion and closeout of the project.

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with elected officials, engineers, contractors, and job site personnel.

Required to maintain a valid Florida Driver's License.

All employees must attend Seminole County Required Trainings.

Department Specific trainings per position may be required.
