Primary accountability:
- Responsible for inbound and outbound freight for manufacturing and branch locations
- Provide coding for Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification system
- Ensure customs compliance for international freight
- Work directly for freight forwarders to ensure best route and cost option
- Lead domestic standard and hot shot freight options
Key position functions:
- Working with Import forwarders to ensure best routing of inbound and outbound freight
- Approval of freight and crating invoices for processing
- Provide tracking for Ocean, Air and Truck freight and communicating that statue of these shipments internally as required
- Develop KPIs for group as directed by Supply Chain Manager
- Support the set up and maintenance of formal contracts for courier, truck, air and ocean providers for incoming and outgoing freight
- Provide inbound/outbound freight quotations as required
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as determined by Supply Chain Manager
- College degree in Business, Supply Chain or Logistics or equivalent experience
- 10+ years of experience in logistics including US Customs
- Superior time management and organizational skills
- Strong negotiating skills
- Exceptional customer service, interpersonal and communication skills
- ERP Skills (SAP preferred)
- Working knowledge of API 6A would be considered an asset
- Working Knowledge of HTS classification system
- Understanding of manufacturing environment
