As a Medical Technologist for Laboratory Analysis (MTL) (m/f/d), you play a crucial role when a doctor suspects a disease in their patient.

The first step towards a diagnosis is a blood sample, but it is not the doctor who conducts the examination of the sample.

This is where you come in. You receive the sample and conduct a search for disease-causing agents, antibodies, and irregularities in the laboratory. Your responsibilities also include examining tissue samples, cell smears, and various bodily fluids. During your MTL training, you will learn about the work processes in a medical laboratory. This

The theoretical training takes place in Zwickau (approximately 220 km from Schweinfurt). For the practical training, you will work at the MVZ Laboratory Schweinfurt and the Leopoldina Hospital Schweinfurt.


The training is conducted in blocks, for example, 6 weeks of school followed by 6 weeks in the laboratory, and so on, for a total duration of 3 years.

This is a full-time training program with 2600 hours of theoretical and practical instruction and 2000 hours of practical training in the laboratory.
