Description
The Advanced Practice Provider will join our Pre-Admission Testing location specializing in pre-anesthesia patient care.Will assist the attending anesthesiologists and surgeons by providing pre-operative patient care for patients in all adult age groups requiring anesthetic interventions.
As part of the anesthesia evaluation process the NP/PA will consult with other health care professionals to obtain information or services relevant to the pre-anesthesia process.
This includes, but is not limited to:
performing and completing full history and physicals; assigning American Society of Anesthesiologist (ASA's) physical status classification for individual patients; educate patients on different anesthesia modalities and the peri operative process; order and interpret appropriate preoperative laboratory tests, radiographic studies and/or specialist clearances as determined by the patients past medical history and current evaluation; prescribe and evaluate patient medications and document using electronic medical record systems.
Job Requirements:
Nurse Practitioner candidates must be currently licensed in Family Practice medicine and have a current license as a registered nurse in New York State or able to obtain licensure.
Physician Assistant candidates must be a graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program and have a current license or be eligible for licensure in New York State.
Current BLS and ACLS certifications required.Preferred:
A minimum of 2 years practicing as a NP/PA in surgery, cardiology or internal medicine. Experience in anesthesia pre-operative clinic, pre-admission testing or surgical equivalent.
