Description

The Cardiology NP performs admissions and discharges on cardiac patients, cardiac catherization, device implantation and ablation. He/she provides patient education and assists in obtaining pre-procedure informed consent; and provides post procedure follow up care. Performs stress tests in collaboration with the designated cardiologist.

Job requirements:

Required:
Currently licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State. Currently licensed as a Nurse Practitioner in Adult, Family Practice or Specialty area in New York State. Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program. Minimum of two (2) years of experience in acute care nursing. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at the time of hire of within two (2) weeks after hire. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required at the time of hire or within three (3) months after hire.

AHA Stroke Certification part A required within one (1) month of employment; part B required within six (6) months of hire date.

Preferred:
Previous critical care experience. Master's Degree in Nursing or equivalent. Certification in a specialty area.

Special Skills:
Competence in computer/information systems use and management.
