ADDICITONS SPECIALIST Full-Time

INTRODUCTION:

The Addictions Specialist is primarily responsible for screening, assessment and referral to treatment for individuals that are referred by the Local Department of Social Services (LDSS).

The Addictions Specialist is responsible for case management and conducting urinalysis screenings of referred individuals. The Addictions Specialist maintains and tracks client results and recommendations and communicates ongoing with LDSS.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct substance use screenings with LDSS referred individuals, provide referral for further assessment and treatment and conduct urinalysis screenings.
  • Maintain tracking log to monitor customer compliance daily, track customer's treatment milestones while the customer is receiving assistance.
  • Provide referrals for additional services when needed (ex. Mental health services, family services, etc.).
  • Ensure that consent is obtained by all customers prior to completing screenings.
  • Provide ongoing updates to LDSS Case Managers when needed regarding compliance with recommended treatment.
Establish and maintain a client file for each customer that is referred for further substance use assessment.

  • Submit all required reporting to program monitor and funding source as required.
  • Attend annual meetings and/or any additional training required by the Behavioral Health Administration (BHA).
  • Participate in site visits by the Local Behavioral Health Authority and BHA staff.
  • Participate in weekly LBHA staff meetings and any additional required training.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Maryland State Board of Professional Counselors and Therapist Certified as one of the following: Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC); Licensed Graduate Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LGADC); Certified Associate Counselor
  • Alcohol and Drug (CAC-AD); Certified Supervised Counselor
  • Alcohol and Drug (CSC-AD); Alcohol and Drug Trainee (ADT).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have the ability to develop and maintain productive relationships within a team and across a broader organization.
  • A general understanding of public health would be helpful.

Pay:
$25.00 per hour


Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
