EHS Technician - Beaumont, United States - Iron Horse Terminals

Reporting to:
VP - EHS/Quality
Position Summary:
The position requires outdoor, in-plant work an estimated 50-75% of the time with an emphasis on field auditing and management of safety, quality and environmental compliance.
Responsibilities and job requirements include:
Primary Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Learning and enforcing company health, quality, safety and environmental policies as well as local, state and federal regulations.
- Auditing operations and field paperwork, including equipment inspections, requirement regulatory inspections and preventive maintenance activities.
- Managing chemical and waste drums and totes, including labeling, consolidating, palletizing and readying for offsite shipment to include preparation of shipping papers. The ability to drive a forklift, use a drum dumper and physically manage drums is a requirement.
- Managing inspection and repair of safety equipment, including rescue equipment, breathing air equipment, air monitoring devices and fire extinguishers.
- Participating in job safety analyses and incident investigations, includingappropriate root cause and preventive measure analysis.
- Coordinating and participating in site emergency, fire and rescue drills.
- Aid in the development and implementation of the company's EHS and quality training programs, participating in regular safety meetings and employee training.
- Aid in collection, sampling, management and reporting of environmental compliance information, including compiling regulatory reports and entering data into government databases.
- Ability to respond to emergencies, including management of first aid incidents, and be able to obtain medical clearance to wear a respirator, operate at heights and in confined spaces.
- Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interface with management and employees.
Normally Expected Education and/or Practical Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required; relevant college experience or occupational training is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to handle outside working conditions is a plus.
- Previous work experience in heavy industrial, petrochemical or environmental services.
- Experience with OSHA, DOT/FRA, EPA and other applicable regulations.
