    Description


    Reporting to the Director of Finance, The Finance Officer plays a critical role in supporting the financial operations of ICC.

    This position is responsible for various financial and administrative tasks, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, record keeping, and assisting with financial reporting.

    The Finance Officer works closely with the Director of Finance to ensure the organization's financial transactions are accurately processed and compliant with internal policies and external regulations.

    Key Responsibilities
    Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including electronic and paper files.
    Obtain necessary approvals, assign project coding, and ensure completeness of information to efficiently process invoices
    Enter financial transactions into the accounting system (Sage Accounting) and reconcile discrepancies.
    Prepare payment runs, including electronic transfers and various payment methods
    Assist with monitoring accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding payments.

    Assist with tracking and categorizing expenses, ensuring all expense report items are completed and that they comply with budgeted amounts.

    Support the Director of Finance and HR in preparing financial reports and analysis as needed.
    Assist in ensuring compliance with financial policies and procedures.
    Assist in preparing budgets with project leads, including travel estimates for large events.
    Provide support with travel arrangements and credit card authorizations.
    Prepare travel advances, obtain supporting receipts and reconcile travel expenses.
    Reconcile bank statements and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner.
    Assist in preparing financial reports for funding application requirements, donors and grantors, ensuring accurate and timely submission.
    Act as a resource and backup for payroll functions when necessary.
    Coordinate GST/HST filings to ensure timely and accurate submissions.

    Assist in the Director of Finance and HR in preparation for financial audits including accruals, account analysis and reconciliation; coordinating with auditors as needed and providing necessary information.

    Provide administrative support to the finance department, including filing, organizing documents, and managing office supplies related to finance.
    Assist with contracts management by preparing professional fee contracts, and reviewing service agreements.
    Perform other duties as requested.
    Education & Qualifications
    Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field


    AND
    3-4 years' experience in finance, accounting, or administrative role.

    OR
    Grade 12 education


    AND
    7 years of experience in a similar role
    Verbal and written English fluency are required.
    The ability to speak an Inuit language (ex: Inuktitut, Inuinnaqtun, Greenlandic, Yupik) is a strong asset.
    Skills and Abilities
    Pro-active, self-starter, who applies sound judgement and maintains confidentiality.
    Exceptional attention to detail, organized and process-driven.
    Ability to work autonomously with numbers and independently resolve discrepancies.
    Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with strong Excel skills and comfort using advanced formulas.
    Knowledge and experience with payroll systems
    Experience using financial software, preferably Sage 50
    Proficiency in financial software, such as QuickBooks, Sage or similar accounting systems.
    Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    Experience with government-funded projects would be an asset.

    OTHER INFORMATION
    ICC provides a hybrid in office and work from home environment.
    Long periods of sitting at a desk in front of a computer.
    Occasional travel and regular meetings.
    Politically sensitive issues may become stressful.
